Finely detailed miniature red squirrel in bronze from the Butler and Peach miniature sculpture collection. Instantly recognisable by their large bushy tails, squirrels often provide us with our first encounter with wild mammals. Red squirrels are intelligent hunters and are known for their uncanny ability to take nuts from even the best protected bird feeders. A nimble and quick tree-dweller, the red squirrel used to be common across the UK, but are now mainly found only in the Scottish Highlands - the result of competition from the now more numerous grey squirrel, introduced from North America in the 1800s. Finished by hand with a traditional patina this would make a fine addition to a collection of miniature bronzes or equally make a treasured gift for a wildlife enthusiast.
This exquisite miniature solid bronze sculpture is supplied in a protective soft suede drawstring pouch and then presented in a high quality gift box.
