Spectacular sculpture in solid bronze of three hares boxing by wildlife sculptor Michael Simpson, from the Richard Cooper and Co Bronze Sculpture Collection. Composed beautifully and finished with fine details and patina this sculpture shows three hares boxing each other by moonlight - a dance that forms part of this elusive creature's springtime mating rituals. The sculpture is completed with a unique stainless steel base that blends in seamlessly, making it a worthy centrepiece for any collection.
The dancing hares are made in solid foundry bronze using the ancient method of lost wax casting. The hares are then finished by the art of patination where various acids are applied to the surface of the bronze and heat applied to create a deep rich brown patina. The base of this design is cast in stainless steel and carefully antiqued to add a depth of colour and to bring the details of the foliage to the fore. The whole piece is then sealed with a special wax which further enhances the colour and protects the bronze for years to come.
This is a substantial sculpture, issued in a small limited edition of just 50. It would be a very special gift for a collector of Michael Simpson's work.
Supplied in a gift box with a soft cleaning cloth and a Certificate of Authenticity that includes the edition number and a short biography of the artist. The edition number is also engraved on the base of the sculpture.
